Project Description: Development of an ESG Strategy and ESG Report and Decarbonization Study
Six Capitals was contracted by the Morupule Coal Mine (MCM) to render ESG and climate-related services. These services included supporting MCM with the development of its ESG strategy and conducting a Decarbonization Study. This saw Six Capitals developing and producing the following deliverables as part of the overall project:
- Reporting gap analysis the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards;
- MCM’s inaugural ESG report;
- MCM’s ESG framework and strategy;
- 5-year ESG implementation plan covering initiatives from Corporate Affairs, Citizen Economic Empowerment Policy (CEEP), Engineering, Mining and Sustainability Departments;
- MCM’s Decarbonisation framework;
- Action plan for transitioning MCM processes to renewable energy sources;
- Map MCM’s trajectory towards net zero operations and;
- Incorporate the just transition into MCM Decarbonization Road map.
